Promoting Accountability and Restoring Opportunity

Groundswell's alternative detention program, TurnStyle, is focused on accountability and skill-building for youth arrested for minor offenses such as vandalism, fare evasion, and truancy. Appropriate young people are sentenced to Groundswell by the New York City Department of Probation, the New York State Office of Children and Family Services, and our community partner, the Center for Court Innovation. During community services hours fulfilled at our office, participants complete basic office and facilities maintenance tasks, fostering the development of work readiness skills.
