On the wall

FROM THE HARLEM RIVER, TO THE NEW YORK HARBOR, TO THE GOWANUS CANAL

Groundswell is thrilled to announce that our fall afterschool season is now officially underway!

Uptown, along the Harlem River, Groundswell youth are partnering with Row New York to create a series of banners for the Peter Jay Sharp Boathouse. These banners will celebrate the water cycle and encourage resource conservation.

Out in the New York Harbor, as a homage to the thousands of new arrivals who left behind wall etchings and drawings, our youth muralists are collaborating with Ellis Island to explore past and present immigration issues in the United States through art.

And, in our own studio on the banks of the Gowanus canal, twenty aspiring youth artists are creating works for their art college and scholarship applications and developing the fundamentals of studio practice.

We are so excited that our studio is abuzz again with creativity, critical thinking, collaboration, and compassion. We invite you to check back on the progress of these projects on our Facebook page in the coming months.
