Dear friend,  

I am thrilled to announce that after a careful national search, Groundswell's board has appointed Robyne Walker Murphy to serve as Groundswell's next Executive Director. Robyne is a seasoned professional with ample experience working at the intersections of art, youth development, cultural equity and social justice. 

We are confident that Robyne's background and compelling vision of the role that the arts play in creating a more just and equitable world will lead Groundswell to further excellence as we begin our third decade of using art as a tool for social change. 

Robyne is currently Citywide Program Director for Cultural Access at Cool Culture in New York City. Before assuming this position, she held roles at several important organizations in our field, including seven years as Director of DreamYard Arts Center in the Bronx. At DreamYard, she helped lead the organization through the development of arts and social justice programming and community engagement initiatives. We look forward to introducing Robyne at Groundswell's annual Art Auction Benefit on October 25 and at other meetings and events this fall.  

I extend my thanks to my colleagues on Groundswell's Search Committee for leading us through the challenging and exciting process of identifying a successor to Founding Executive Director, Amy Sananman. Groundswell's board, the artists, youth and staff of Groundswell, and Interim Executive Director, Rob Krulak were critical partners in the search. Equally important, they have kept Groundswell and its programs vital and energetic during the interim period.  

I thank everyone in Groundswell's broader community for your continued involvement with us and confidence in our work. All of us look forward to staying in touch as Robyne begins her tenure.
