Groundswell's Art Auction Benefit is just six short days away! Did you get your tickets yet?
The art auction is already heating up. Get in on the action today by placing bids on your favorite artworks.
May we suggest two of our favorites by Ayana Jackson and Andrea Geyer?
Ayana Jackson's work crystallizes the experience of contemporary Africa and African diasporic societies. Her portraits use rich historical allusions to depict candid African and African-American identities. Jackson's The Grand Matron is a self-portrait from the Leapfrog (a bit of the other) Grand Matron Armyseries, which presents multiple generations of women - from the pre-colonial to the afropolitan - in tandem.
Andrea Geyer's Labor & Love is an extracted work from the Travels on a Slender Thread series, created in 2015. The series materializes a set of poems inspired by Geyer's expansive research on women's contributions to Modernism. Appearing as a script to be performed, as well as a transcript of something that happened, the associative words press through the surface of the painting, seemingly moving forward and backward in time.
Other featured artists include Chuck Webster and graffiti artist, CERN.
Tickets to the Art Auction Benefit are available for purchase now, starting at $75.
