As Emmanuel shares in this video, sometimes people feel like they don’t have a voice.
Following the devastation of Hurricane Sandy, too many of our fellow New Yorkers feel this way.
This summer, teens recruited from four NYC recovery communities will work with LISC New York City, Master Artist Swoon, and community-based organizations in Red Hook, Coney Island, Staten Island, and the Rockaways to bring stories of the storm to life.
These young people will spend their summer creating public artworks illustrating their community’s recovery and healing post-Sandy.
We invite you to follow their progress, in the first of a series of video blogs featuring Groundswell youth artists working on "Recovery Diaspora."
And we invite you to support their work, with a gift to Groundswell’s Summer Leadership Institute Scholarship Campaign.
Help Emmanuel and other young artists like him share their vision to make our world a more beautiful place.
Special thanks to filmmaker Mara Vargas for her work on this video series.
