It's time to get ill!
Coincidentally, it's also time to get ready to bid because Groundswell's Annual Art Auction Benefit is right around the corner.
We are particularly excited to highlight an NYC original, photographer Ricky Powell.
Born and raised in New York City, Powell is a legendary photographer whose work simultaneously conveys both intimacy and detachment. His photographs have been featured in The New York Times, VIBE, Rolling Stone, and more.
Powell has contributed a photo from a Beastie Boys' Amsterdam performance in 1987. His relationship with (and the photos he took of) the Beastie Boys gained Powell notoriety and earned him the unofficial title of the "fourth Beastie Boy." Powell's relationship with the band is so close he was even mentioned by name in "Car Thief" on the band's second studio album Paul's Boutique.
Powell captured this shot of a performance in Amsterdam on the notorious "Licensed to Ill" tour.
Learn more about all the photographers included in this year's event, and view a sneak preview of Groundswell's auction (hosted by Paddle8), here. Online bidding begins September 30th.
Now what's the time? Of course, it's time to purchase your tickets to the event.
